Upon taking office on Monday, Trump declared a national emergency along America’s southern border. He ordered the Defense Department to provide troops to “support the activities of the Secretary of Homeland Security in obtaining complete operational control” of the border. Trump also instructed the military to help with building border barriers to stop migrant crossings.

On Wednesday, new White House press secretary Karoline Leavitte told reporters that Trump had signed another executive order to deploy 1,500 troops to the southern border. A recent memo from the internal Customs and Border Protection indicated that there could be a plan in place to send 10,000 soldiers to help the agency’s mission at the border. The memo also showed that the Trump administration is planning to drastically expand detention capacity at Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Trump is sending a strong message with his actions and showing that stopping the border invasion is one of his top priorities!
